Winnipeg Phoenix FC follows and maintains the Canada Soccer club licensing requirements under the Canada Soccer Standards of Quality Soccer (SQS) and includes area community clubs wishing to offer youth soccer programs in the North-East area of the City of Winnipeg to participate under the Phoenix SQS license. Our goal is to create a consistent program across the entire district, including fees, and improve the overall quality of the soccer programs.
Long Term Player Development Stage TWO Fundamentals “FUN WITH THE BALL”
At this stage, players should participate in simulating practices and games that develop basic technical skill in a FUN atmosphere. The emphasis should be on movement exercises and games that promote a feel for the ball while teaching basic principles within a fun but structured setting. Mini-games formats are 5v5 and a basic league schedule will be created but no standing will be kept. All players should play equal time, try all positions, and equal time should be allotted to practices and games.
Goal: Technique development through fun.
Emphasize skills and ABC’s not tactics.
Fun games, no standings.

Players in the U7 (born in 2017) - U8 (born in 2016) age groups looking to register for outdoor soccer will do so via the Central Registration Portal.
After registration, the teams will be created.
Teams are usually a combination of players from several clubs playing out of a host club.
Your child MAY be placed on a team hosted by any of the clubs in the district.
A team representative will contact you approximately two weeks before the start of the season, if you have not been contacted by a team representative by April 23, please contact Winnipeg Phoenix FC by e-mailing kristin@phoenixsoccer.ca
Duration: 2 sessions per week
Season: May and June
Recommended Training Time: 30 minutes skills and 30 minute game = 1 hour duration
Team Composition: Same-gender teams begin at this age.
Games will be played at various community club fields in the area.
Equipment Required by player:
Shin guards, running shoes or outdoor soccer cleats are required. Jerseys will be provided (note: most clubs require a jersey deposit in the form or cash or postdated cheque).?
The Recreational Soccer Program relies on volunteer coaches to provide the opportunity for your child to participate in the program. Without these coaches, there is no program. Not only will you be contributing to your child's development, but you will also be supporting the community too. Be part of this rewarding experience! To ensure the safety of all participants and provide a meaningful and enjoyable experience as well as comply with Canada Soccer's SQS program, coaches must be willing to complete the following, for which all fees will be reimbursed to the coach upon successful completion:
